To all friends of Kölner Kindertagespflege!
We live in challenging times, and the effects are clearly felt in child day care as well. As an often overlooked area of U3 care, we increasingly have to fight for the survival of classic, family-like care.
The reasons for this are manifold:
- Cologne is increasingly losing its attractiveness for families, as the excessive rents lead to migration to the commuter belt.
- Babies and toddlers are increasingly ending up in overcrowded and understaffed day care centers.
- The decline in births in Germany is unmistakable.
- The city of Cologne is not able to adequately honor the work of child day care providers (KTPPs).
These developments mean that fewer and fewer children can benefit from high-quality care in small groups. Many colleagues are forced to give up their work. KTPPs in rented rooms are particularly hard hit. What many don't know: We are entrepreneurs who are only partially subsidized. High rental costs, graduated and index rents for commercial properties must be largely borne by the KTPP themselves.
Kölner Kindertagespflege therefore needs a strong lobby! The image of child day care urgently needs to be reconsidered and corrected. Appreciation and recognition are just as important as adequate remuneration! Because we all have one thing in common:
WE LOVE CHILD DAY CARE – WE LIVE CHILD DAY CARE.
The association Kindertagespflege Köln e.V. in formation advocates for the needs, rights and goals of parents, children and KTPPs. All active members have so far invested many hours and equity on a voluntary basis to strengthen the political backbone of Kölner Kindertagespflege. But it can't go on like this. The financial resources are missing to build a functioning administration, to do good public relations work and to implement urgently necessary actions.
We need you! Help us to give Kölner Kindertagespflege courage again and more strength. Every donation counts! With your support, we can ensure that children, grandchildren and every affected child in Cologne can continue to learn the important skills of community and independence in small groups and with a fixed caregiver. Without your commitment, child day care in Cologne will soon disappear.
